Permit results are out. How lucky were you? You can check your results at MyFWP. Remember, if you didn’t get drawn you still have a chance! For $5 per “Chance” through a separate lottery, FWP will issue one Super Permit allowing the winner of that permit to pick a launch date of their choice. Don’t wait to buy your chance! Deadline for the 2016 Super Permit Lottery is March 17th. Smith River Super Permit Chances are available for purchase from FWP online or at any FWP Regional Office or License Provider like CrossCurrents Fly Shop. You can purchase as many chances as you’d like and all proceeds from the sales of chances directly benefits the Smith River Corridor Enhancement Account.
I got a permit! Now what? CrossCurrents Fly Shop is your friendly Smith River expert. If you’ve never floated or fished the Smith River, Jennifer wrote a three-part blog series to help you get an idea of what to expect. CrossCurrents’ owner, Chris Strainer, has personally floated the Smith since the late 90’s and has been guiding on the Smith River since 2002. Many of our shop staff are also Smith River adventurers floating both personally as well as commercially. We believe the Smith River is one of the World’s best adventures.
I don’t have a raft and I scored a permit! No worries, CrossCurrents has you covered. We rent new to one-year old self-bailing NRS and Aire Rafts, Super Coolers, Cots and more! Questions from what flies should I use to what size of leader and tippet must I have, CrossCurrents can help dial you in for fly fishing the spectacular Smith River. We can also custom package flies based on your launch date and ship them to you prior to your trip! CrossCurrents also sells custom Smith River Map T-shirts, waterproof Smith River Maps, Smith River Boat Camp Signs. These items will make awesome souvenirs of your adventure.
Let us help you create a memorable trip.
